About Dublin Select

Dublin Select Softball is dedicated to advancing the skills, knowledge, and confidence of softball players in the Dublin community. Our program focuses on the fundamental, physical, and mental skills needed to escalate the girls to the next level of competitive fast pitch softball.   Our goal is to develop the girl’s hitting, pitching, and defensive skills to a level which enables them to prepare for their Dublin middle and high school softball teams, or wherever their dreams may take them.  Many of our players have gone on to thrive in interscholastic competition.

Above and beyond the records of our teams, our main objective is to provide an atmosphere where the girls can learn teamwork, character building, work ethics, respect for themselves and others, and many other important lessons that will prepare them for life.

If your daughter is looking to take her game to that next level, without the excessive expenses and travel schedules, you should consider Dublin Select Softball.

Select Program Facts

  • Dublin Select offers three different age level teams: U10, U12, U14, and U16 with each age group having between 1 and 3 teams each year, depending on how many tryout.
  • Players are selected to participate in the Select Softball Program through an evaluation and selection process. Girls who are selected to participate in the Dublin Select Softball Program must be willing to make a substantial commitment of time to the team: attending team practices, games, and functions is expected.
  • Roster sizes are designed to maximize playing time and will typically be limited to 11 players (a 12th player may be considered depending on the age group).  Commitment from players is essential in developing teams and ensuring that roster sizes at these levels can be maintained.  Routine absences and lack of commitment impact the development of the entire team. Girls that are routinely missing practices and/or games may have playing times reduced, and placement on future teams may be adjusted accordingly.
  • There is a registration fee of $10 in order to tryout for the 2019-2020 season. Once the player has made a team, there is a playing fee of $410. After players have made teams, parents will need to pay the $100 commitment fee no later than August 15th. Payment will be made in the same manner as the try-out fee. Go to the Dublin Youth Athletics website, login to your family account, and pay the $100 commitment fee. The remaining $310 participating fee will also be paid online and is due by October 15th.
  • The Dublin Select Softball fee is designed to cover ordinary team expenses during the season, e.g. equipment, uniforms, indoor practice rental, field rental, league fees, tournament fees, umpires, etc.
  • Uniforms will be provided to each player that is new to the program and returning players that did not receive new uniforms for the 2021 season, or they will be available for purchase.
  • All games and practices are held at Darree Fields. We are located on Diamonds 16 and 17 near the back of the complex, off of Houchard Rd.

Schedule

  • Game and practice schedules vary depending on each individual team; however, they do follow along the same guidelines. League play typically begins during the last week of May and continues through the middle of July. Teams will choose to play in tournaments in addition to league play.  Each team will choose their own tournaments based on the location and the skill competition level desired by each team.
  • U10, U12, and U14 teams play a combination of league play, two nights per week (Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays), and some tournaments, depending upon the team’s competitive level.  Teams may also elect a one night per week league and play in more tournaments.   U16 play one league night per week.
  • Teams typically hold practices throughout the winter and spring. The number of practice sessions will increase during the spring and prior to the season. Teams with players playing in middle school or high school programs will hold practice sessions throughout the winter until tryouts begin for school ball, and will resume once released from their school teams. Select softball does not interfere with middle school and high school softball.
